Acute toxicity study of 77 herbal formulas according to GLP guidelines in rats

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the acute oral toxicity of 77 herbal formulas and performed in male female Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats as per guidelines mentioned Ministry Food Drug Safety.Methods: Each sex SD rat were administered a single dose (2000 or 5000 mg/kg) via gavage; control group received vehicle only. After administration, mortality, clinical signs, gross findings, body weight followed up for 15 days.Results: administration formulas, changes, findings related test substances not observed both groups.Conclusion: Our results demonstrate single-dose produced no mortality indicating approximate lethal is greater than 2000 mg/kg weight.
